BIG ROCK CASINO

champs Lance Ragland & John Abrahamson

Lance Ragland kept the "#16 jinx" alive and well, while John Abrahamson tasted JBT victory for the first time, in exciting NM-TX Conference action at Espanola's Big Rock Casino.

Ragland snuck into the 16th and final seed for our PBA format semifinals, featuring best 2-of-3 matchplay.  Paul Carper had earned the #1 seed by averaging over 230, but was swept 2-0 by Lance.  #2 TJ Gaudette also fell in round one, to #15 Aaron Raymond.  #3 Hannah Stedman was the high seed to survive, with a 2-0 win over #14 Charlie Elliott.

In the round of eight, Ragland upset #8 Sara Vargas, Stedman swept #10 Danny Cobine, #5 Jess Gagliardi beat #15 Aaron Raymond, and #6 Tevynn Laws swept #13 Jonathan Lawson.  In one-game semifinals, Gagliardi beat Stedman 247-212, while Ragland and Laws tied at 190, forcing a one-shot rolloff that went three rounds before Lance escaped 10-7 to reach the title match.

Gagliardi was looking to win his second JBT title in roughly seven hours, having won the scratch-only event earlier in the day.  However, Ragland had the better look on the title match pair, and he took advantage for a 223-186 win and the first title of his JBT career.

The stepladder finals was all about Joseph Trujillo for three games.   He began his onslaught with a 262-225 win over Robbie Garcia.  Trujillo then got past Roger Johnson 239-206, and followed with a big 253-209 win over Olivia Stedman to reach the title match.

Top seed John Abrahamson had a great day en route to the top seed, and was able to slow down Trujillo, winning the match 234-208 for the first title of his JBT career.

Thanks to everyone at Big Rock for hosting our Tour!  Want in on all the fun?  Check out our schedule and come on out to the next JBT event, it's really that simple!
