JBT GIRLS' INVITATIONAL
runner-up Allie Ijams, champ Sarah Boe, 3rd place Ashley Dunn
Sarah Boe kept the northwest's domination of the Tour alive by capturing the $500 winners' scholarship as champion of the 2010 JBT Girls' Invitational, held at The Orleans in Las Vegas.
Rebeca Reguero was the top seed after five games of qualifying on a challenging lane condition, earning a two-round bye, but fell in her match to #8 Boe. In the semifinals, Sarah got past #3 Ashley Dunn, and #2 Allie Ijams got past #10 Courtney Dutton to set up the title match.
Ijams, the 09-10 Female Bowler of the Year and defending Girls Invite champion, had her hands full with Sarah, a consistent frame-filler who also is a scratch titlist with us. After many lower scoring rounds, both girls found a good look in the two-game total pinfall finals. Boe got out to a 226-215 lead after game one, but Allie's strike on the first shot in the tenth frame of a close second game forced Sarah to do the same to win the tournament. Boe took her time and threw a perfect ball for the strike and the 434-426 win, and her second JBT title.
Only 23 girls of the over 100 eligible competed, but they shared in an over $2,300 scholarship windfall, including an extra $500 for Allie for being the highest 09-10 Womens' Series finisher in the Invitational. Thanks to everyone at The Orleans for hosting us! The Women's Series returns for 2010-11- check out the schedules for details!
