Leisure Bowl

champs Anthony Solano & Chris Brown

Anthony Solano and Chris Brown captured JBT titles in the NM-TX Conference regular season wrapup, hosted by Leisure Bowl.

Points leader Jess Gagliardi opened the scratch division stepladder finals with a 257-192 win over second in points Ryan Scheer in an obviously important game.  The Colorado bowler than got by El Paso's William Entsminger 228-181.  Labriel Leach then continued a red-hot 2010 with an almost historic game, firing the first 11 strikes in a 297-231 win over Gagliardi to reach another title match.

Top seed Solano fired the event's only 300 game of the day in the semifinals to help him nab the top seed.  The Denver-area bowler made the trip well worth it, as his 10th frame strike sealed a 244-213 win and his first career JBT title.

Martin Montoya opened the handicap division stepladder finals with a 236-208 win over Seth Jaramillo.  Roswell's Dan Aguilar then got past Montoya 247-234, and followed with a 203-189 win over Megan Carlson, who had dominated the tournament for most of the day, to play top seeded Brown for the title.

Brown had caught Carlson for the #1 seed in the final game, and continued to get stronger from there, starting with the first six strikes in a 262-224 win over Aguilar.  It was the second JBT win in two months for Brown, and the second time he has come up with a huge game in the finals to secure the win.

Over $1,300 in scholarships were awarded to bowlers of all averages.  Want in on the fun?  Check out our great summer schedule and come on down to the next JBT event, it's that simple!
