AMF SHEA VILLAGE
champs Kyle King & Taylor Coleman Kyle King moved within one win of the all-time JBT title record, while Taylor Coleman tasted victory for the first time, in exciting Arizona Conference JBT action at AMF Shea Village. Estevan Casillas, who made the finals on a high-scoring day despite not winning a match in the semifinals, erased that anomaly by doubling in the tenth to seal a 224-210 win over Riley Dempsey. Mark Myers, who earlier had the high game of the day with a 299 heartbreaker, then defeated Casillas 224-185. In the semifinal match, Myers beat Deven Johnston 193-166, to advance to the title match. Top seed King has been on a roll lately, even by his standards, and swept the leaderboard today en route to the top seed. Myers has been one of Kyle's repeated victims lately, losing in three recent stepladders to him. Unfortunately for Mark, it was more of the same, as King stayed in control of the title game for a 234-207 win, and the 41st title of his JBT career. In a battle of Kyrene Lanes regulars, JD Sweet opened up the handicap finals with a 237-185 win over Cortez Schenck. In round two, Sweet and Coleman battled to a 197 tie, with Coleman winning the rolloff 53-42 to advance. Perhaps motivated by the tie, Taylor then rolled to a 251-212 win over Krystal Gray, a previous winner at Shea, to move on to the finals. Top seed Trevor Roberts has won twice this season in the Mojave Conference, but has struggled in his home state, until a great performance today to capture the top seed. The title match remained close all game, until a disastrous tenth frame open from Trevor gave Taylor the room he needed for a 216-209 win and a long awaited first career JBT title. Justin Givler and Ashley Collins picked up $25 scholarships each as winners of the Impact Challenge, presented by Impact Bowling, a huge supporter of JBT. They are at 99th Ave and Bell in NW Phoenix- check them out, and say thanks! Thanks to the crew at Shea for another great job hosting our Tour. Over $1,700 in scholarships were awarded, boosted by $100 each to Kyle and Taylor for winning with Ebonite, our title sponsor's equipment. Want in on all this fun? Check out our schedule and come bowl a JBT event soon, it's that easy!
