TEXAS STAR LANES

champs Kyle King & Kennison Andrews

Kyle King kept rolling along, while Kennison Andrews had a huge day in handicap, in exciting JBT Mojave Conference action at Texas Star Lanes.

In an all-Zach battle, Mr. Martinez opened up the scratch division stepladder finals with a 213-156 win over Mr. Simon.  Martinez then got by Kris George, who had averaged over 250 in qualifying, 246-214, and followed with a 215-193 win over Devin Bidwell to reach the title match.

Beating George and Bidwell in the same day is tough enough, but now Zach had to face top seed Kyle King, who has just been unconscious in JBT since the new year.  Martinez showed no fear of the challenge though, but in a close game that came down to the tenth, King got the mark he needed for a 229-224 win and the 45th title of his JBT career.  The victory, earned with an Ebonite bowling ball for an extra $100, pushes him over the $50,000 - yes, FIFTY THOUSAND- dollar mark in career JBT earnings- what an amazing accomplishment!

Marina Stever began the handicap division stepladder finals with a Sunny 223-189 win over Steven Acuff, a winner six days ago in Tucson.  Stever than beat one Californian, Isaiah Cleveland, 243-217, before falling to another, Brandon Turner, 237-220 in the semifinal.

Top seed Kennison Andrews had owned this event since the end of qualifying, but looked to be in trouble in the title game as the veteran Turner started with spare-five bagger.  However, Andrews kept calm and countered with a late four-bagger of his own, and it was enough to take the match away 246-226, good for the third title of his young JBT career.

Thanks as always to Jerry and the crew at Texas Station for a great job hosting our Tour.  The Mojave Conference season now wraps up with the Invitational, but plenty of JBT action remains over the summer, with some of our biggest tournaments of the year.  Check out the schedule at www.bowljbt.com, and come on down to a tournament soon!
