VISTA ENTERTAINMENT CENTER
champs Devin Bidwell & Oscar Chan; Women's Series champ Rebeca Reguero Devin Bidwell, Rebeca Reguero, and Oscar Chan tamed the tricky cheetah pattern to capture JBT titles in exciting Southern California Conference action hosted by Vista Entertainment Center. Kyle King, again searching for JBT title #40, began another climb up the stepladder finals with a 218-159 win over Mark Myers, who he has victimized in matchplay a few times lately. DeeRonn Booker then stopped Kyle's climb with a 196-159 win. Bidwell then stopped Booker 227-195 to reach the championship game. Top seed Steven Manier, bowling in his home center, showed his mastery of the home lanes by easily leading the tournament. He looked to be in control of the title match until a 8th frame 4-9 split gave Bidwell a glimmer of hope. Devin took full advantage of that glimmer, though, striking out from there to suddenly force Steven to have to strike out to tie. When Manier couldn't get the first hit, Devin scored a come from behind 193-178 win and his 8th career JBT title. Eric Demo, the previous day's champion, began an attempt for back to back wins with a 208-199 win over Courtney Schultz in the opening match of the handicap division stepladder finals. First time finalist Jonathan Braun then defeated Demo 204-194, and followed with a 218-176 win over John Wright to reach the title game. Top seed Oscar Chan had a huge semifinal round to leap from the middle of the pack to the top seed. Braun was also dealing with a split-open thumb that couldn't have helped in a new situation, and that combined with Oscar's strong bowling led to a 226-183 win for Chan and his first career JBT title. Rebeca Reguero claimed her second JBT Women's Series win of the season with a 188-130 win over top seed Courtney Schultz, increasing her point lead on the girls' point list, with five Women's Series events left this season. Thanks to the great crew at Vista, which has made some great improvements, for hosting our Tour. Over $1,700 in scholarships were awarded to bowlers of all averages. Want in on the fun? Check out our schedule and come on out to the next JBT event, it's as simple as that!
