West Seattle Bowl

champs Jordan Plunkett & Zoe Mahn

Jordan Plunkett claimed a landmark title, while Zoe Mahn tasted JBT victory for the first time, in exciting Pacific Northwest Conference action at West Seattle Bowl.

Tyler Cruz opened up the scratch division stepladder finals with a 206-144 win over Tristan Curtis.  In a low-scoring but very close second round, Brandon Dunson beat Cruz 181-179.  Dunson revved it up next game for a 235-171 win over Marshall Kent to advance to the title match.

Top qualifier (and good friend of Dunson) Jordan Plunkett has been having a dream season, and conquered a challenging lane pattern today en route to the top seed.  He saved his best for last, rolling the second-highest game of the whole tournament in a 259-219 win over Brandon for the title.  The win was his seventh of the season and tenth of his JBT career, ordinarily stats that are good enough to run away with Bowler of the Year, but Kent remains close on his heels heading into the all-important Invitational.

Ryan Gallagher began a great climb up the handicap division stepladder finals with a 181-174 win over Max Cooper.   Ryan then had to play another Max, and got the same result in a 200-165 win over Max Polhill.  Done with the Maxes, now he had to face the "Z"s, and began with a 230-188 win over Zane Hays in the semifinals to advance to the title match against top "Z" Zoe Mahn.

Mahn, at 11 years old, again showed that any age and average can do well in JBT events by grabbing the top spot after game seven.  In a potentially intimidating environment, she kept her cool wonderfully while Gallagher slowed down just a bit, and the result was a 203-177 win for Mahn and her first career JBT title.

Over $1,300 in scholarships were awarded to the field.  Thanks to WSB for a great job hosting our Tour for the first of hopefully many times.  Want in on the fun?  There's lots of JBT summer action!  Check out our schedule and come see us soon!
