Acme Bowling

champs Tyler Cruz & Toby Shepherd

Tyler kept his 2010-11 season in Cruz control, while Toby Shepherd got his season kick-started, with wins in exciting Pacific Northwest Conference action at Acme Bowling.

For the second consecutive day, Tyler led the qualifying round, but faltered pretty badly in the semifinals, again hanging on to the #5 spot for the stepladder finals.  He then proceeded to roar through the finals, beginning with a 253-197 win over Perry Crowell the solid-VIII.  Cruz then best Jeremy Witt 194-165, and followed with a 236-228 thriller over Cameron Weier, whose late-frame open gave Tyler a second chance he took full advantage of.

Top seed Marshall Kent picked up right where he left off after his amazing summer, dominating on the brand new Kegel Abbey Road condition.  He and Cruz engaged in a back and forth title match, with a few bad breaks for each bowler.  With a chance to double to force Cruz to strike in the tenth, Marshall's first shot came up high, and Cruz wrapped up the doubleheader sweep (and double ladder-climb) with the 213-201 final score, good for the 4th title of his JBT career.

Khalid Lucas opened the handicap division stepladder finals with a 218-187 win over Quinton Miller, who made back to back finals on the weekend.  Luke Jordan than defeated Lucas 223-211.  Shepherd then turned the tables on Jordan with a 172-168 squeaker to reach the title match.

Top seed Nicole Stickler led 6 of the 8 previous rounds to earn her first trip to the title match.  After building a lead through seven frames, she ran into trouble in the final three, giving Toby just enough room to mark in the tenth for the 197-193 win, and the third title of his JBT career.

Thanks to everyone at Acme, a spectacular facility, for another great job hosting our Tour.  Over $1,200 in scholarships were awarded to under-22 bowlers of all averages.  Want in on the fun?  Come on down to the next JBT event, it's really that simple.
