Gold Coast

champs Brad Hansen & Savannah Carr

Brad Hansen earned JBT title #2, while Savannah Carr ended a long wait for her first victory, in exciting Mojave Conference action at Las Vegas' Gold Coast Bowling Center.

Spenser Lilley, who was the final qualifier for the semifinals, shot 721 and went 3-0 in the semifinals to leap into the #4 seed, and then opened the stepladder finals with a 237-200 win over Jordan Katz.  Hansen then took over, doubling in the tenth to defeat Lilley 227-221, and following with a 233-184 win over Ryan Howard to reach the title match.

Sixteen year-old top seed Jakob Butturff had led the high-scoring field in only his second career JBT event, but had difficulty finding the look on the championship pair.  Brad was able to take advantage for the 213-186 win, and his second title of the season already.

Taylor King opened up the handicap stepladder finals with a 234-219 victory over Amanda Ailport.   Tayllor and KJ Martinez then ended match two in a 192 tie, with KJ winning the rolloff 48-45.  Martinez then got by "Mr. Staurday" Isaiah Cleveland 218-183 to reach another title match.

Top seed Savannah Carr had posted her best 8-game JBT total en route to her first top seed, but had a tough customer in Martinez, picking up right where he left off after a great 2009-10 campaign.  The well-bowled match came down to the tenth frame, with Carr's mark forcing a double from KJ.  Martinez' first shot was good but a 10-pin stood, and Savannah finally claimed her first career JBT title with the 215-206 win.

Thanks as always to the crew at Gold Coast for hosting our event, which awarded over $1,400 in scholarships to bowlers of all average under age 22.  Want in on the fun?  Come on down to the next JBT event, it's that simple!
