Sam's Town

champs Kyle King & Jake Childers

Kyle King and Jake Childers continued Arizona's recent out-of-state domination of the JBT with wins in exciting Mojave Conferecnce action at Sam's Town Bowling Center.

Tony Rose opened up the scratch division stepladder finals with a 228-217 win over Brandon Owen.  DJ Sloan then edged Rose with a 219-204 win.  Sloan had rolled the front seven or better three times during the day, but he would've needed to do it a fourth time, as Riley Dempsey came up with a 279-213 win over DJ to advance to the championship game.

On a day where it nearly took a 220 average just to make the first cut (+91), top seed Kyle King paced the field with a +487 8-game total, fifth best all-time. King and Dempsey went at it for the third time already this season in what is expected to be a frequent title game matchup.  This time Kyle got on the season scoreboard with a 225-208 win for the title, the 46th of this amazing bowler's career.

Lindsey Ailport, another Arizonan, opened the handicap stepladder finals with a big 271-201 win over reigning handicap Bowler of the Year Aaron Watkins.   Taylor Ray then defended the home turf with a 254-183 win.  She followed that up with a 218-214 thriller over Justin Villa, who earlier thrilled the crowd with the event's only 300 game, his first, which was in the middle of a 20 in-a-row string!

Top seed Jake Childers' only other career JBT title came at Sam's Town, and he continued to dominate at this bowling center en route to the #1 spot.  Both Jake and Taylor struggled a bit in the title match, but in the end it was Childers coming away with a 203-187 win and his 2nd career JBT title.

Thanks as always to the Sam's Town crew for a great job hosting our Tour.  Over $1,200 in scholarships were awarded- want in on the fun?  Come on out to the next JBT event, it's as simple as that!
