GLENFAIR LANES

champs Jory Koizumi & Jazmyn Eubanks

It was Ladies' Day again on tour, as Jory Koizumi and Jazmyn Eubanks captured titles in exciting JBT Arizona Conference action at Glenfair Lanes.

The day's 'march madness' format was a matchplay format borrowing from the NCAA basketball tournament, where the highest season-long point scorers earned the top seeds.  Cameron Smith thus earned the top seed in the scratch division, and defended his seed with wins against Andrew Corrao and Aaron Yamamoto.  He then faced Koizumi in the semifinal, and came up with a terrific 235 game on a brutal patterm- but Jory did him one pin better, striking  in the tenth for 236 and a trip to the finals.  In the other semifinal match, Tim Jacob continued his career-best performance with a 2360214 win over Jakob Butturff to reach his first scratch division title match.

Jacob was unfazed by the unfamiliar territory of the title match, opening up with the first five strikes.  But Jory stayed clean, and when Tim opened in back to back frames late, she barged through that opening, eventually running the last seven strikes for a 258-216 win.  The title was teh second of the season for Koizumi, making her the first female since Allie Ijams to win multiple JBT open-field scratch titles in the same season.

Top handicap seed Steven Acuff earned his way to the semifinals, escaping tremendous battles against Brandon Hormann (399-398 in the two game match) and Jerod Walker (424-415). In the semifinal match, though, Jazmyn Eubanks stayed in control the whole game to beat Acuff 222-179 to advance to her first title match.  In the opposite semifinal, Gillian Coyle just got past Californian Shauna Schultz 226-220 to set up a title match between a pair of 13 year-olds.

In the final game, Jazmyn, comfortable in her home bowling center, cruised to the title match win and the first victory of her JBT career.

Megan Carlson continued her fantastic spring with a win over a snakebit Courtney Dutton to capture the day's Impact Bowling Women's Series title, the fifth of the season for Megan.  Jazmyn and Jory each earned an extra $25 courtesy of Bowling Dynamics, and gift cards from Advantage Bowling, for the wins- thanks to all these great Phoenix area pro shops for helping out quality youth bowling!

Thanks as always to Glenfair for a great job hosting our events, which awarded well over $3,000 in scholarships over the weekend.  If you want in on all the fun, just check out our schedule and come on down, it's that simple!
