Town & Country
champs Nick Lee & Trevor Thompson Nick Lee and Trevor Thompson became the first JBT champions of 2012, in exciting NM-TX Conference action at Roswell's Town & Country Bowl. Ryan Gose opened the scratch division stepladder finals, his first, with a 186-156 win over Billy Read. 8-time champ Aaron Foshie then beat Gose 237-196, before 12 year-old Cortez Schenck then beat Foshie 212-184 to reach the title match. Top seed Nick Lee dominated this event, a sentence we have written before regarding him and Town & Country, a house he has always bowled well at. Schenck was looking to become the youngest scratch winner in JBT history, and won in the handicap division in Roswell last year. Lee would not allow that history to happen, though, staying in control the whole title match for a 225-190 win and the 8th title of his excellent JBT career. Jacob Lang made his first top-5 a success, winning round one of the handicap stepladder 209-191 over first-time JBT bowler Cedric Perez. Nick Lloyd then doubled in the tenth frame to edge Lang 237-226. Lloyd fired it up in the semifinal, defeating Brandon Navarette 260-214 to reach the title game. Top seed Trevor Thompson, a San Diego bowler visiting family in Roswell, made the long trip worth it by leading the event, but found himself in a big hole against Lloyd, who was seeking to avenge a title match loss in El Paso earlier this season. Nick opened with a three-bagger, but Thompson didn't give up, eventually coming all the way back for a 225-209 win, and his first career JBT title. Stacia Cilley defeated Krista Casaus 244-167 to win the day's Impact Bowling Women's Series event, the second of three wins she needs to qualify for the 2012 Girls' TPC this summer in Las Vegas. Thanks as always to Brian Casaus and the crew in Roswell for again making this one of our favorite stops of the season. Over $1,500 in scholarships were earned by bowlers of all ages and averages- want in on the fun? Come on out to the next JBT event, it's that simple!
