ACME BOWL

champs Tristan Curtis & Nick Bruketta

Tristan Curtis and Nick Bruketta earned JBT titles in exciting Pacific Northwest Conference action at Tukwila's Acme Bowl.

Tanner Spacey opened up the scratch division finals with a 204-199 win over previous day's champion Eddy Smith.  Spacey then defeated first-time finalist Caleb Hathaway 233-177.  Curtis then turned the tables on Spacey 212-181 to advance to the title match.

Top seed Cameron Weier dominated the tournament, shooting three 258 games along the way, to put himself in the title match for the second straight day.  Unfortunately for Weier, he struggled in the finale for the second straight day as well, and Curtis took advantage for the 208-186 win.  The victory was the 8th of Tristan's career, and second at Acme.

Tommie McNeal began a climb up the handicap stepladder with a 204-200 squeaker over Andy Herrmann.  McNeal then defeated first time finalist Brandon Drake 232-191.  Jacob Grimes, a finalist yesterday, then stopped McNeal 248-220 to advance to the title match.

Top seed Nick Bruketta totally dominated the handicap division, shooting 720 for his first three games to grab a big lead.  He slowed down some in the semis, perhaps giving Grimes some hope.  Jacob posted a fine 236 title game, but could only watch as Nick regained his early-tournament form, firing a 258 scratch game for the 292-236 win, and the third title of his JBT career.

Makayla Douglas defeated Correen Lieber 213-185 to win the day's Impact Bowling Women's Series event.  It's the first of three wins she needs to qualify for the 2013 Girls TPC.
