CERBAT LANES

champs Curtis Lindeman & Keith Fung

Two Arizona bowlers captured JBT titles in dual Mojave / Arizona Conference action at Kingman's Cerbat Lanes.

Give bowlers of this talent level a few boards to play with, and they will light it up, and they did all day, highlighted in the scratch division by Correen Lieber's +249 5-game qualifying total.  She hung on to the #5 seed for the stepladder finals, but fell in round one to Riley Dempsey 223-157.    Dempsey heated up to 257 in the next match, but was no match for the unprecedentedly-hot Jakob Butturff, who ran the front 11 strikes before a 10-pin made him settle for a 299 game and the win.  Jakob, who won $5,000 and the Main Event just the day before, then watched Cameron Smith start the next match with spare-8 bagger, but that wasn't enough to stop him either, as Butturff struck out from the sixth for a 269-254 win, advancing to the title match.

Top seed Curtis Lindeman outstruck the field with five 230+ games to earn the #1 spot.  The title game was surprisingly lower-scoring, but in the end, Curtis came away with the 213-208 victory, good for the fourth title of his JBT career.

Scores were just as high in the handicap finals, beginning with Alexis Atkin rolling a huge game to defeat Zach Lewandowski 283-188.  Lindsey Ailport then shot 275 in round two, needing almost all of it in a 275-259 win over Atkin.  Lindsey remained just as hot in the semifinal, rolling past first time finalist Tessa Dempsey 272-192 to reach the title match.

Top seed Keith Fung had his career best JBT event by far, easily leading the tournament.  He could have been intimidated by the big scores being put up, but instead he put up a huge number of his own, defeating Ailport 268-238 for the first title of his JBT career.

Lieber avenged her loss in the open event with a 228-194 win over Marina Stever for the day's Impact Bowling Women's Series event.

Thanks as always to the crew at Cerbat for a great job hosting our Tour.  Come on out to the next JBT event to get in on the fun!
