AMF DEER VALLEY

champs Jakob Butturff and Savannah Carr

Jakob Butturff kep his incredible run rolling along, while Savannah Carr made a long awaited return to the winners circle, in exciting JBT Arizona Conference action at AMF Deer Valley Lanes.

Curtis Lindeman and Anthony Tripi opened the scratch division stepladder finals with a thriller, as after Anthony got all three in the tenth, Lindeman did the same for a 208-207 win.  Mark Myers then stopped Lindeman 224-146.  Mark remained strong in the semifinals, getting past Sven Majeske 194-163 to reach the title game.

Top qualifier Jakob Butturff, fresh off the Main Event win last month, showed no signs of slowing down here, leading yet again.  He engaged in a close, well-bowled battle with Myers.  Needing a strike in the tenth to win, Butturff calmly got up and flushed ten in the pit for a 225-221 win, the 11th title of the season already, and the 17th of his JBT career.

Mike Grisham began a climb up the handicap stepladder with a 250-197 win over Keith Fung, a winner last month in Kingman.  Grisham then got by Erica Pursell 227-184, and followed with a 209-187 win over Alexis Atkin, who earlier got off to one of the best two game starts in JBT handicap history, rolling her career highest two games scratch (266 and 278) to build an early lead.

Top seed Carr took over with a big game eight as Atkin started to come back to the field, and remained strong in the title match as well, defeating Grisham 227-204 for the third title of her JBT career, which was also her first in over a season.

Pursell and Atkin squared off in the day's Impact Bowling Women's Series event, with Erica coming out with the 196-183 win, the first of three she needs to qualify for the 2013 Girls TPC this summer.

Thanks as always to AMF Deer Valley for a fine job hosting our Tour.  Want in on the most fun in youth bowling?  Pick out a JBT event on our schedule and come on down!
