FOREST LANES

champs Cortez Schenck & Brandon Navarette

Cortez Schenck and Brandon Navarette captured JBT titles in exciting Southern California Conference action at Forest Lanes.

Kyle Duster opened the scratch division stepladder finals with a 231-191 win over Eric Hatchett.  Duster then kept on rolling with a 222-152 win over fellow two-hander Mark Myers.  Schenck then threw up a big number to stop Duster 257-175.

Top seed Jakob Butturff has dominated the season so far, and dominated this event as well, leading all eight games to easily grab the number one spot.  The title match proved to be low scoring, with both bowlers unable to get comfortable on the left hand lane.  When Jakob couldn't double in his tenth, Cortez threw a flush strike in his tenth for a 179-172 win, and the sixth title of his JBT career.

Mondesi Saavedra began a climb up the handicap stepladder with a 212-182 win over fellow Trevi bowler Oscar Mercado.  Saavedra then defeated Leah Zweig 200-169.  New Mexico bowler Brandon Navarette then stopped Saavedra 212-195 to advance to the second title match of his JBT career.

Top seed Kayla Goad had her best JBT day in quite a while to lead the event.  However she struggled against Navarette, who was in town to see the Broncos play San Diego Monday night.  Brandon won the game 224-183, capturing the first title of his JBT career.

Goad tried to redeem herself in the Impact Bowling Women's Series title game, but top seed Chelsea Houston would have none of it, putting up her high game of the day in a 248-181 win, good for the first of three wins she needs to get into the 2013 Girls TPC.
