HAZEL DELL LANES

champs Courtney Nikolas & Bryson Parker

Courtney Nikolas made some JBT history, while Bryson Parker made some personal history of his own, in exciting JBT Pac NW Conference action at Husted's Hazel Dell Lanes.

Luke Jordan, making his first scratch finals after a great handicap career, opened up the scratch division stepladder with a 224-147 win over veteran Zach Hemming.  Tyler Satter then made his first finals of the season a success with a 208-206 squeaker over Jordan.  Evidently, two pins was too comfortable a margin for Tyler, as he then won his semifinal match against Ryan Nikolas 216-215 to advance to the title game.

Top seed Courtney Nikolas then stepped in to avenge her brother's semifinal defeat, having shot 279 in game eight to lead a scratch JBT event for the first time.  Satter has improved rapidly this season, but he could not stop history, as Courtney won the match 213-189 for her first career title.  It's the first time that two females have won scratch events in the same weekend in JBT history.  If we had told you that stat prior to this weekend, you may have guessed that Makayla and Correen perhaps were the winners, but Courtney and yesterday's winner Breanne reminded us all just how deep and talented the Pac NW women are- congrats on making history, girls!

Kevin Obrist (or is it Kyle?  Oh, it's probably Kevin) opened up the handicap division stepladder finals with a 225-186 win over Matthew Yaw.  Kevin then beat veteran Toby Shepherd 177-163.  In another low scoring match, Kelley Moody got by Obrist 184-171 to advance to the title game.

Top seed Bryson Parker was leading a JBT event for the first time.  Apparently, he didn't get the message about the girls sweeping the weekend, as he defeated Moody 195-181 for the first title of his JBT career, making the guys 1-3 in title matches on the weekend!

Even though the girls showed the guys how to bowl this weekend, they still get their own Women's Series event every tournament, and in that event Makayla Douglas, the dominant female season-long, beat Nikolas 217-211, for her fifth Women's Series win of the season.

Thanks as always to everyone at Hazel Dell for hosting our Tour!  Want in on the best tournaments around for any age and any average bowler, 21 and under?  Check our schedule and come on out, it's that simple!
