Holiday Bowl

champs Curtis Lindeman & John Ellis

Curtis Lindeman broke a long title drought, while John Ellis tasted victory for the first time, in exciting season-opening JBT new Mexico-Texas Conference action at Albuquerque's Holiday Bowl.

Joe Lewandowski opened up the scratch division stepladder finals with a big 256-216 win over first-time scratch finalist Jeremiah Martin.  Fellow Arizonan Derek Acuff then turned the tables on Joe with an even bigger 265-231 win over Lewandowski.   Danny Cobine then won a thriller over Acuff with a tenth frame spare 215-213 to advance to the title game.

Curtis Lindeman had taken over the top seed from the seemingly uncatchable Cobine with a booming 811 series in the semifinals.   The title match didn't match either bowlers' previously torrid pace, but missed 10-pins from Danny did him in.  Lindeman won the game 196-178 for the second ttle of his JBT career, and first since the 2010-11 season.

Bryan Nogan began a climb up the handicap division stepladder with a 217-189 win over Alyssa Williams (who had a book report to do anyway).  Nogan then rolled past Zac Frias 238-181, before Ellis stopped him 227-201 to advance to his first title game.

Top seed Kory Hetmer narrowly missed Bowler of the Year last season, and picked up right where he left off again with a great performance here.  He struggled in the title game, though, and Ellis tok advantage for a 228-203 win, and the first title of his JBT career.

Hannah Stedman defeated Bree Vargas (who won a three-way rolloff to get into the cut) 190-149 to win teh day's Impact Bowling JBT Women's Series title, the first of three wins she needs to get into the 2013 Girls TPC next summer.

Thanks always to the crew at Holiday for hosting our event.  Over $1,100 in scholarships were awarded.  Want in on all the fun?  Check out our schedule and come on out to the next JBT event, it's that easy!
