        Two JBT bowlers captured their first career titles in very exciting New Mexico-Texas Conference action at Leisure Bowl.

        Taylor Simpson opened up the handicap division stepladder finals with a 219-214 squeaker over JBT rookie Isziah Zuni.  New points leader Kory Hetmer then threw a huge game in a 271-182 defeat of Simpson.  Kory slowed down in the semifinals, and Ethan Brandt took advantage for a 191-172 win, advancing him to his first career title match.

        Top seed Zach Harvey had his best JBT performance, taking over the lead from Brandt in game six.  Both bowlers bowled very well in the title match.  In the end, Harvey's tenth frame strike locked up a 234-231 win, good for the first title of his JBT career.

        Mason Edmondson began a climb up the scratch division stepladder with a 231-213 win over Jacob Gill.  Mason then bested Chris Brown 181-145, and followed with a 222-200 over Hannah Stedman, who earlier had the tournament's high game of 279. 

        Top seed William Yoder had traded the lead with Edmondson until he took over in the semifinals.  Mason had been uneven all day, but still remained tough and clawed his way back into the title match.  Late in the game, Yoder, untested in this position before, fired off a brilliant four bagger to take control, winning the game 226-196 for the first title of his JBT career.

        Bree Vargas defeated Hannah Stedman 196-168 for the day's Women's Series title. Female bowlers need to win three Womens Series events to get to the 2013 Girls TPC this summer.
