SANTA FE STATION

champs Eric Hatchett & Alexis Atkin

Two JBT veterans added additional titles to their collections in exciting Mojave Conference action at Santa Fe Station Lanes.

Riley Dempsey and Dallas Leong squared off in a low scoring but entertaining opening match of the stepladder finals, with Riley coming out with the 170-169 win.  Jakob Butturff then took over, beating Dempsey 236-153, and following with a 200-153 win over Oscar Chan to reach yet another title match.

Top seed Eric Hatchett has been having a fine season, and this event was no exception, as he led seven of the eight rounds.  In a close game, he was able to defeat Jakob 215-204, earning the sixth title of his excellent JBT career, while Jakob settled for back to back runner-up finishes on the weekend.

Atkin, who has had some of her best results in Mojave events over the years, put on a show in the handicap stepladder.  She began with a 188-184 squeaker over Leah Glazer.  Alexis then got by previous day's (well, that morning's) champ Jason Pappas 246-230.  Kennison Andrews fell victim next, losing to Alexis 229-200 as she climbed on to the title match.

Top seed Alayna Purdy used a big semifinal set to leap into the lead in only her second JBT event.  Matches with wide handicap differences can go either way, and this time it was Atkin staying in control, winning 211-191 for the fourth title of her JBT career.  Both ALexis and Eric earned $300 for the wins, courtesy of Station Casinos.

Alexis wasn't done, as she was also the top seed in the day's Impact Bowling Women's Series event.  She evidently started to run out of gas against Sharyn Miyaji, and Sharyn needed all the help.  It wasn't pretty, but in the end Miyaji escaped with a 139-138 win, the first of three she needs to qualify for the 2013 Girls TPC.

Thanks to the crew at Santa Fe Station for hosting our events.  Want in on all this action?  Just come on down to the next JBT event!
