SUNSET LANES

champs Tyler Boe & Connor Gracia

Brian Monnette and Kelsey Abrahamsen dominated the day's JBT event at Sunset Lanes, but stepladders can be cruel obstacles, and it was Tyler Boe and Connor Gracia that earned the titles, in exciting Pacific Northwest Conference action in Beaverton.

Cameron Weier, charging towards the TPC now that he's home from his national-championship season at Robert Morris, opened the scratch stepladder finals with a 225-191 over perennial finalist Eddy Smith.  In a thrilling second match, Weier out-struck Nick Devlin 258-242.  Tyler Boe then turned the tables on Weier, winning 238-183 to advance to the title match.

Top seed Monnette rebounded from his heartbreaking loss at Kent to annihilate the field, leading all 8 games and qualifying 100+ pins ahead of Boe.  However, the pace slowed down in the title game, and in the end Tyler had just enough for a 204-193 win, earning the third win of his JBT career.

Connor Gracia put on a clinic in the handicap finals, beginning with a 236-206 win over Samm Cosby.  Connor then beat out Kara Lieber 211-165, and turned it way up in the semifinals for a 261-200 win over Elisa Couch to advance to the title game.

Top seed Kelsey Abrahamsen's game has been kicking into high gear this spring, which is good timing for a JBT bowler.  She took over the lead with a huge semifinal set, qualifying more than 150 pins ahead of Couch.  However, in one game title matches anything can happen, and in this case what happened was the highest game of Gracia's JBT career, a 269 scratch effort that resulted in a bizarre looking 309-197 win, good for the second title of Gracia's JBT career.

Abrahamsen got some revenge in the day's Women's Series event, though, soundly beating Elisa Couch 224-156 for the title.

Thanks as always to the great crew at Sunset for hosting our Tour!  Want in on all the fun?  Check out our schedule and come on down, it's that easy!.
