SURF BOWL

champs Jakob Butturff & Trevor Thompson

Jakob Butturff kept his amazing roll going, while Trevor Thompson added another title to his growing collection, in exciting Southern California Conference JBT action at Oceanside's Surf Bowl

Cortez Schenck opened up the scratch division stepladder finals with a high scoring 244-238 win over Oscar Chan.  Bobby Hornacek, who had the high game of the day with a brilliant 300 game to wrap up qualifying, came in next but was ousted by Cortez 225-200.  "Tez" kept it rolling in the semifinals with a 211-205 squeaker over Luke Holley to reach the title game.

Top seed Jakob Butturff is on a roll like we have very rarely seen in JBT history, with nine wins in the last four months, and this title match was the third in the last month between Jakob and Cortez, having split those games 1-1.  This time, Schenck ran out of steam, and Butturff took advantage for a 209-176 win, good for the lucky 13th title of Butturff's JBT career.

Katelyn Corwin began the handicap stepladder finals with a 226-177 victory over veteran Megan Carlson.  Corwin then topped Kennison Andrews (who fired a big 298 game to start the day) 225-208.   In a high scoring semifinal, Thompson stopped Corwin 240-230 to reach the title match.

Top seed Matthew Green led seven of eight rounds in a terrific performance, but Trevor was simply not to be stopped, winning the title match 244-209, good for the third title of his JBT career.

Courtney Brown won her first Impact Bowling JBT Women's Series event of the season with a 194-191 win over Megan Carlson.  Girls need three of these wins this season to get into the 2013 Girls TPC this summer.

Thanks to Dawn and the crew at Surf for a great job hosting our Tour for the first time in a few years. To get in on teh most fun and excitement in under-22 bowling, just check out our schedule and come on down!
