        Bobby Hornacek out-battled the field to capture a JBT title in exciting 'battle bag' action at Vista Entertainment Center.

        After five games of grueling qualifying on the US Open lane pattern, the top half of the field advanced to a best 3-of-5 matchplay round in battle bag, where after each game the winner removes one of three balls from their opponent's arsenals. 

        Justin Sims grabbed the top seed as one of two bowlers averaging over 200 after qualifying, but after a one-round bye, he got swept 3-0 by Ben Canfield.  In other matches that round, Hornacek stopped Nick Vinyard 3-1, Cortez Schecnk beat Pat Smith 2-1, and Jakob Butturff outlasted Oscar Chan 3-2.

        In 2-of-3 semifinal matches, Schenck swept Butturff 2-0, and Hornacek swept Canfield 2-0 to set up the single game, one ball title match.  In that game, Hornacek, who is always tough in match play, defeated Cortez 204-172, to capture the second title of his JBT career.

        Chelsea Houston captured the day's Impact Bowling Women's Series event with a 193-156 win over Megan Carlson.
