20TH CENTURY LANES

champs Brandon Myers & Kyle Jonson

Brandon Myers and Kyle Jonson each picked up their first career JBT titles in exciting Pacific Northwest Conference action at Portland's 20th Century Lanes.

Josh Mullen began his third consecutive scratch division stepladder finals with a 215-174 win over Tyler Porter.  Connor Jackley then stopped Mullen 225-201.  Nick Devlin, the champion last month at Acme, then turned the tables on Jackley with a 218-185 win to move on to the title match.

Devlin's title game opponent was good friend and top seed Brandon Myers, whose two-handed game is tailor-made for the 52 foot Badger lane pattern.  Myers has been quickly improving, but had yet to win a singles title at any level in any tournament.  His tenth frame strike changed all that, as his 215-205 win was good for the breakthrough first career JBT title.

Kyle Obrist began the handicap division stepladder finals with a 213-204 win over Hannah Abney.  Obrist then topped first-time JBT bowler Emma Newlander 214-185.  Jonson then stopped Obrist 215-205 to reach the title game.

Top seed Kaytelyn Denune, another JBT rookie, took over the tournament in the semifinals, but struggled a bit in the title game.  The veteran Jonson was able to take advantage of the opportunity for a 223-201 win, good for a long-awaited first career JBT title.

Wylicia Faley made an impressive JBT debut as well, with a 190-172 win over Theresa Kelly to earn the day's JBT Women's Series crown.  Bowlers need 3 Women's Series wins to get into the Girls TPC next summer.

Thanks as always to the crew at 20th Century for hosting us!  Want in on all this fun and excitement?  Check out our schedule and come on down, it's that simple!
