REVOLUTIONS - BARSTOW BOWL

champs Eric Hatchett & Trevor Thompson

Two JBT veterans added titles to their collections in our first visit to the beautiful new Revolutions in Barstow, in exciting dual Mojave and Southern California Conference action.

Austin Thompson began the scratch division finals with a hard fought 202-195 win over Dallas Leong.  Thompson then got past Alex Watanabe 214-145.  Brendan Thomas, who earlier fired a 297 game, then stopped Thompson 235-176 to advance to the title game.

Top seed Eric Hatchett continued an excellent season by leading here.  Though the finalists were producing high scores all day, the title match turned out to be a grindout as Thomas lost the look he had, and Eric struggled to find the line on the championship pair.  A tenth frame brooklyn from Brendan made Eric show up in the tenth, and he came back with a brooklyn of his own, locking up a 187-177 win.  With the victory, he joins the super-elite club of 10-time JBT champions, only the 33rd bowler in our history to reach that lofty level!

Ethan Wolfe began his first career stepladder finals with a 220-197 win over Cerell Cardines to begin the handicap matches.  Wolfe and Trevor Thompson then needed bonus bowling to decide round two.  After a 209 tie, Trevor escaped with a 34-33 overtime win to move in.  Now with all the momentum, Thompson beat Cerell's brother JEremy Cardines 241-220 to move on to the title game.

Top seed Joe Gerencser, whose handicap has dwindled to single digits with great bowling of late, kept up the high scoring to grab teh top seed here.  However, Thompson was on a roll ever since the rolloff, and finished off the three-match stepladder climb with a 218-183 win over Gerencser, good for the 6th title of his excellent JBT career.

Derek Acuff's 300 game in qualifying was not only the high game of the day, but the very first since the Barstow center re-opened as Revolutions, yet another feather in the cap of the prolific perfecto shooter.

Alexis Atkin kept up her dominance of the JBT Women's Series, this time getting by Ashley Dunn for the day's girls' title, and increasing her lead in Women's Series points.

Paula Vidad and her team have done an amazing job resurrecting this historic center in Barstow, and did an equally great job hosting our event, including live-streaming the finals- check out this place if you're ever driving through!  Want in on all this fun and excitement?  Just check out our schedule and come on out to the next JBT event!
