BEDROXX

champs Ben Canfield & Mathew Adragna

The venue changed, but the results stayed the same, as Ben Canfield and Mathew Adragna each won JBT titles for the second consecutive day, this time at Tucson's Bedroxx.

The scratch division was true deja vu, as Kyle King won three consecutive matches in the stepladder, just like he did at Cactus the day before.  This time he began with a 237-166 win over Zach Martinez.  Kyle then got by a great effort from KJ Martinez 233-212, and then in a struggle of a semifinal, beat Keith Fung 175-160 to reach the title match.

Kyle again had to deal with top seed Ben Canfield in the title match.  Just like the day before, Ben dominated on a difficult pattern, and just like the day before, both bowlers ended up struggling in the title match.  And in the end, the result turned out the same as well, as King couldn't get a tenth frame strike on a baffling lane, and Canfield earned his 18th title with a 212-191 win.  It's also the third time this season he's won back to back titles in one weekend, an amazing accomplishment!

Paul Colyer opened up the handicap division stepladder finals with a 218-173 win over Dante Rohe.  Adragna then beat Colyer 222-171.  Jake Hilton appeared to have Adragna beat in the semifinals, but a 10th frame big-4 reversed the result, and Mathew escaped with a 221-204 win and a second consecutive trip to the title game.

Top seed Abby Franklin, the only non-repeating finalist on the weekend, bowled great all day to earn the #1 spot.  However, Adragna was clearly more confident than in his title match the day before, and he came up with a huge game, beating Abby 259-206 for his second consecutive JBT title.

Even the Women's Series had a repeat winner, as honorary Arizona resident Adel Wahner beat Alexis Atkin 252-191 for a sweep of the weekend's girls events.

Thanks as always to the crew at Bedroxx for a great job hosting our Tour.  The field is now set for the Arizona Invitational, where qualifiers will compete for $1,000 top scholarship prizes!
