TENPIN ALLEY

champs Ryan Gose & Gerilynn Delegarito

Two JBT veterans- even tough one's twelve years older than the other- won titles at Tenpin Alley in the New Mexico-Texas Conference's first visit to Las Cruces in over six years.

Bowlers competed in our exciting 'super survivor' format, where after a cut to the top 50% of the field, three bowlers are eliminated each game: the lowest score, and the lowest two overall totals.  After three rounds, the scratch division survivors were Ryan Gose, Jacob Gill, and qualifying leader William Yoder.  They competed in a very tight three way match, with Gill (212) and Gose (204) prevailing over Yoder (202) to set up the title game.

Gose, bowling in his home center, earlier threw the high game of the event, a 267, and stayed in control most of the match against Gill, both of whom were looking for their first career titles.  Ryan came through with strikes in the late frames to seal a 214-173 win, and a long awaited first title of his JBT career.

It took five rounds to get the handicap division down to its final three, and in that penultimate game Gerilynn Delegarito (206) and Ryan Schieffer (212) advanced, while Hannah Camarillo (201) was eliminated in third.  JBT regulars know that any age and any average can do very well with us, and 9 year-old Gerilynn and 10 year-old newcomer Ryan were the latest proof of that, putting on a great show all day and in the title match as well.  In the end, Delegarito's 7-spare game was too much for Schieffer, and she won her 2nd career title with the 218-193 win.

Vanessa Romero earned the top seed for the day's Women's Series event, and then blasted a 248 game to defeat Bree Vargas and win the day's Girls title.

Big thanks to the crew at Tenpin Alley, as well as Peggy, John, and many others for helping promote the event locally.  Want in on all the fun and excitement?  Just check out our schedule and come on down, that's all there is to it!
