EASTRIDGE LANES

champs Chris Brown & Jonah Seawright

Two JBT veterans added additional titles to their collections with wins at Amarillo's Eastridge Lanes in exciting New Mexico-Texas competition.

In our 'super-survivor' format, three bowlers are eliminated each game- the lowest overall game, plus the lowest two overall totals.  Thus, the highest total pinfall bowlers have the advantage, but anyone can be eliminated suddenly with one bad game (or bad break).  In the scratch division, twelve semifinalists were carved down to three, including top qualifier Trey Sledge, #3 Aaron Moore, and #4 Chris Brown.  In an unusually high scoring semifinal game, Sledge (234) and Brown (233) eliminated Moore (216), setting up a four-handed, zero-thumbed title game.

Sledge had destroyed the pins all day, averaging nearly 247 including the five highest games of the day (a rare feat).  Meanwhile, Brown had been doing just enough to survive round by round.   In the title game, Sledge's carry suddenly went away, and the consistent Brown was able to take advantage for a 234-193 win, good for the seventh title of his JBT career.

In the handicap division, nine semifinalists were also carved down to three, and in that game #1 Iszaih Zuni (212) and #2 Jonah Seawright (249) advanced, eliminating #3 Kelly McNeil (190) in third.   The title match between the New Mexico bowlers went all the lefty's way, as Jonah stayed in control for a 227-207 win, earning him the sixth title of his JBT career.

Top seed Sara Vargas won her third straight Women's Series event to open up the new season, beating Sophie Diaz 196-177 for the victory.

Thanks to Tony and the crew at Eastridge for a great job hosting our Tour for the first time.  Want in on all this fun and excitement?  Check out our schedule and come on down, that's all you have to do!
