EASTRIDGE LANES

champs Aaron Moore & Skylar Maldonado

Aaron Moore and Skylar Maldonado joined the JBT champions' club, winning their respective divisions in exciting Mew Mexico-Texas Conference action at Amarillo's Eastridge Lanes.

Brandon Gill opened up the scratch divisions stepladder by beating his friend Ahkeen Williams 216-203, avenging his title match loss to him at Isleta last season.  William Yoder then stepped in and beat Gill 256-152.  Moore then turned the tables on Yoder in a 243-233 thriller to move on to the title game, while Yoder's third place finish was enough to jump him into the points lead.

Top seed Trey Sledge didn't dominate the tournament like he did the day before, but still did enough to grab the lead after game eight.  However, the same fate befell him as the previous day's title match, as his previous good carry abandoned him.  An early trip of the 4-7-9 by Moore, combined with a virtually stone 4-7-9 from Sledge made the difference, and Aaron cruised to a 231-195 win, and his first career JBT title.

Noah Martinez opened the handicap division stepladder with a 206-196 win over Morgan Ellis.  Maldanodo then began her run by beating Martinez 215-189, and following with a 222-188 win over Joshua Ludiker to advance to the title game.

Top seed Taylor Williams had lurked near the top of the leaderboard all day, but in the match of two first-time finalists, it was all Skylar, as she bowled her high game of the day scratch, an even 200, to roll to a 261-194 win over Williams, earning her first career JBT title.

Sara Vargas continued to crush the Women's Series, beating Amber Robinson 223-191 for her fourth straight win to open the season.  It was still a good result for Amber, who made the regular cut as well and is improving daily after her scary accident last season.
