EVERGREEN LANES

champs Eric Hatchett & Tyler Hogstrom

Eric Hatchett completed a weekend sweep, while Tyler Hogstrom avenged recent title match troubles with a big title, in exciting JBT Pacific Northwest Conference action at Everett's Evergreen Lanes.

Hatchett began his climb up the scratch division stepladder finals with the high game of the tournament, a front-nine effort good for a 279-194 win over Ryan Harris.  He then got by Daniel Hanson in a 245-238 thriller when Hanson couldn't get the second hit in a dramatic tenth frame.  The semifinal match was lower scoring but just as tense, and again the Menace from the Mojave came out on top, this time 192-180, to advance to the title game.

Top seed Nick Devlin remained at or near the top of the leaderboard most of the day, but ran into carry issues in the title game.  Eric couldn't get the big strings going either, but his tenth frame spare was just enough for a 193-185 win and the title, making it a weekend sweep for the Nevada bowler against the very tough Pac NW scratch bowlers.

Kyle Jonson used the high game of the day to sneak into the stepladder finals, then kept rolling with a 231-225 win over Toby Shepherd in round one.  Johnny Leggett then used two hands to stop Jonson 256-188.  Jonathan Bautista then turned the tables on Leggett with a 260-216 win to advance to the title game.

Top seed Tyler Hogstrom is a one-time champ that has been working hard to add another win to his resume.  After a couple of frustrating second place finishes, Hogstrom stayed in control of this title match, eventually winning 236-177, good for that validating second career win.

AJ Schock won her first Women's Series event with a 171-163 squeaker over Kelsey Abrahamsen, starting her on the road to the JBT Girls TPC this summer.

Thanks to the crew at Evergreen for a great job hosting a JBT event for the first time.  Want in on all this fun for all ages and averages?  Check out our schedule and come on down, that's all you have to do!
