Nick Devlin remained on a roll, while Johnny Leggett returned to the winner's circle, in exciting JBT Pacific Northwest Conference action at AMF Firebird Lanes in Salem.
Bowlers competed in the popular 'mix it up' format, where after five qualifying games, the top scratch bowlers team up with their handicap counterparts for a doubles semifinals and Baker finals. Leggett and Devlin qualified as the #5 seed, and began a run up the stepladder finals with a 226-205 win over the team of Jake Mullen and Jared Johnson. Nick and Johnny turned it up in round two, beating Chris Tuholski and Brian DeLuisa-Anderson by a 241-210 score. It was more of the same in the semifinals, as Devlin and Leggett defeated Wylicia Faley and Jake Tucker 224-209 to reach the title game.
Top seeds Tyler Boe and Hannah Abney led the high scoring field both in their separate qualifying and after the combined matchplay, but couldn't find the same magic in the title match. Nick and Johnny didn't give them much of a chance, continuing to strike in a 239-196 win to earn the victory. It's Devlin's third of the season to stay right in the Bowler of the Year hunt, while Leggett earns his first title since winning the Invitational to wrap up last season.
Faley was the top qualifier in the day's Women's Series event, but in a thrilling title match, Courtney Nikolas came away with the 194-193 win, and her fifth Women's Series title of the season.
