KEYSTONE LANES

champs Kyle Duster & Alli Azvedo

Kyle Duster and Alli Azvedo opened up the 2013-14 JBT Southern California Conference season with big wins in exciting action at Keystone Lanes.

Duster barely squeaked into the finals then put on a clinic in the scratch division stepladder, beginning with a 235-211 win over Kennison Andrews.  Kyle then beat Zach Martinez 228-175, and followed with a 226-200 victory over Ben Canfield to reach the title match.

Joe Grondin tossed a big final game on the demanding Badger lane pattern to grab the top seed at a JBT event for the first time.  However, Duster had all the momentum from not just the previous three matches, but his So Cal Invite win to wrap up the previous season.  Both he and Joe bowled very well in the title match, but Grondin just couldn't get the carry, and the result was a 237-189 win for Kyle, good for the 3rd win of his JBT career.

Arizona regular Morgan Rapp began the handicap division finals with a 220-197 win over newcomer Zachary Alayra.  Morgan then got past Secilia Kalvelage 235-211.  In a close semifinal game, Alli Azvedo edged Rapp 222-216 to advance to the title match.

Top seed James McGough finished second in the TPC a few months ago, and carried that momentum into the new season with a terrific performance here.  He stayed excellent in the title match as well, rolling a clean 200 game scratch, but newcomer Azvedo was able to answer, rolling her second-highest game of the day for an exciting and surprisingly high-scoring

Randi Speiler continued her early-season hot streak with a win over 2012-13 So Cal JBT Girls Bowler of the Year Brittany Kolatzny to win the day's Women's Series event.  She swept the girls' events at Red Rock two weeks ago, so she already has the three wins needed to qualify for the 2014 Girls TPC next summer.

Thanks as always to the great crew at Keystone for hosting our events.  Want in on the most fun and exciting events around?  Check out our schedule and come on down to the next JBT event, it's that simple!
