        Derek Acuff ground out a JBT title in exciting 'battle bag' action at Dan Nadeau's Silver Nugget.

        Eric Hatchett grabbed the top seed at +77 after five games on the very challenging Mexico City lane condition.   In the battle bag rounds, the winner of each game removes a ball from their opponents' bag, demanding versatility in a bowler's physical game, as they'll have to rely on that instead of changing balls.  Hatchett had no problem in his first round match against Brandon Russom, as did #2 Cortez Schenck and #3 Bobby Hornacek, but #4 TJ Rock, who did great to make the cut at his young age, fell to Acuff.

        In the semifinals, Acuff ousted Hatchett, and Schenck beat Hornacek to set up the title match.   The final game was one-sided, as the veteran Acuff caught a good look and threw great shots, resulting in a 246-166 win, good for the 17th title of his excellent JBT career, while Schecnk had to settle for his 5th runner-up finish of the season while stuck on 19 titles.

        Alexis Atkin continued a hot start in the JBT Women's Series, beating Randi Speiler 168-158 for the win.
