SOUTH POINT

champs Derek Acuff & Brendan Lindsey

Derek Acuff claimed a landmark JBT victory, while Brendan Lindsey returned to the winner's circle, in exciting Mojave Conference action at South Point Bowling Center.

Bowlers competed in the demanding 'super survivor' format, where the lowest score and the bottom two overall totals are eliminated game by game, putting an emphasis on total pinfall, but with the threat of elimination at any time no matter where you stand.  Cortez Schenck had a small lead over Eric Hatchett after qualifying, but it was Acuff who made the best move in the super survivor rounds, getting up to the top three, and then eliminating Hatchett in the semifinals to play Schenck for the title.

In a low scoring title game, Acuff was able to edge Tez 180-171 for the title.  It's the 20th of his JBT career, making him only the 9th bowler in JBT history to reach that outstanding level.

Lindsey held a five-pin lead over Brooke Martinez after qualifying, and after four rounds, they were the two left standing to play for the title, a somewhat unusual occurrence in this format.  Brendan hasn't won since getting on a major roll at the end of the 2012 season, but rekindled the magic here, beating Brooke 237-192 for the title, the fourth of his JBT career.

Martinez avenged her loss in the day's Women's Series event, earning the top seed and then beating Randi Speiler 192-172 for the win.

Thanks as always to the crew at South Point for hosting our Tour.  Want in on the fun?  Check out our schedule and come on down, that's all there is to it!
