        Tristan Curtis and Collins Davis captured JBT titles in exciting Pacific Northwest Conference action at Kennewick's Spare Time Lanes.

        Brian Monnette began the scratch division stepladder finals with a 200-170 win over Ryan Harris.  Monnette then stopped Ryan Nikolas in round two 223-212.   In the semifinals Bryson Parker came out striking, defeating Monnette 269-213 to advance to his first career scratch title game.

        Top seed Tristan Curtis threw the high game of the event, a 290 in game seven, to jump into contention, so that combined with Bryson's big semifinal game set up a scenario for high scores in the finale.  The opposite happened, though, as both bowlers struggled with high hits and late-game mistakes.  Curtis recovered for a tenth frame double, forcing Parker to get the first strike in his tenth for the win.  Bryson was unable to get the hit, and a relieved Curtis claimed the 181-170 win, good for the 9th title of his JBT career.

         Johnny Leggett, who earlier threw the 8th highest handicap game in JBT history with a strange-sounding 324 (286 scratch), began the handicap stepladder finals with a 220-203 win over Jake Tucker.  Jonathan Bautista then positively stopped Leggett's run with a 211-204 win.  Nick Bruketta then turned the tables on Bautista with a big 261-186 win to move on to the title game.

        Top seed Collins Davis was having his best JBT event by far, but the veteran Bruketta was having by far his best event of the season.  Davis jumped out to a big lead, but Nick, who never gives up on a match, clawed back into it with a late double.  After Collins' spare in the tenth, Bruketta needed 9-spare-strike to tie.  Unfortunately for Nick, his first ball went high and only got 6, giving Davis a 212-209 win, and his first JBT victory.

        Courtney Nikolas continued a good start to the year in the Women's Series, defeating newcomer Amanda Tagye 180-168 for the women's title.  Nikolas needs only one more win to qualify for the 2014 Girls TPC this summer.
