STARLIGHT LANES

champs Danny Cobine & Jonah Seawright

Danny Cobine and Jonah Seawright added to their JBT title collections by winning at Starlight Lanes in exciting NM-TX Conference action.

Cobine climbed the scratch division stepladder for his fifth career JBT victory.  He began with a 224-181 win over Chris Brown.  Cobine then beat Braxton Williams 205-179, and followed with a 205-144 win over Jacob Gill to move on to the title match.

Ahkeen Williams qualified first by filling frames on the demanding Mexico City lane pattern, but two late opens from him in the late frames of the title match spelled his doom, as Danny stayed clean in the title game for a 209-160 win and the championship.

Doug Griffith began an entertaining climb up the handicap division stepladder finals with a huge game to defeat Kat Rush 264-190.  The next match against Gerilynn Delegarito was a thriller, with Griffith escaping with a 191-190 win.  The semifinal match against Tanya Paris was another nail biter, but Doug came out on top again, edging Tanya 207-200 to move on to the title match.

Jonah Seawright bowled very well all day to grab the top seed, but when Griffith started spare-spare-turkey while getting 30 pins, it looked bleak. Seawright responded beautifully though, throwing a late six bagger to trigger the high handicap game of the day (and second highest game in either division), defeating Griffith 274-240 to claim the seventh title of his JBT career, third best all-time in that category.

Sara Vargas not making the Women's Series title match is noteworthy, but where big sister stumbled, little sister Bree picked right up, easily earning the top seed and then beating Adel Wahner 222-187 in the title game to earn her first Womens Series win of the season.

Thanks as always to Jerry and the crew at Starlite for a first-class job hosting our Tour.  Want in on all this fun?  Check out our schedule and come on down, that's all there is to it!
