TRIANGLE BOWL

champs Tanner Spacey & Andy Herrmann

Tanner Spacey and Andy Herrmann wrapped up the 2013-14 regular season with exciting wins in Pacific Northwest Conference action at Longview's Triangle Bowl.

Josh Mullen began a climb up the scratch division stepladder finals with a 209-183 win over Connor Jackley, who broke out of a protracted slump with the finals appearance.  Mullen then poured on the strikes, defeating Tyler Boe 236-212, and following with a 238-182 win over Darren Stanley, putting a dent in Stanley's TPC hopes.

Top seed Tanner Spacey tossed two 279 games on the difficult pattern as he pulled away from the field in the semifinals.  Meanwhile, Mullen has climbed the ladder to the title match a few times lately, but with limited luck in the title game.  Unfortunately for Josh, it was more of the same, as Tanner rolled an excellent game, beating Mullen 229-205, to capture the 8th title of his JBT career.

Haylee Kriss began the 8-bowler handicap stepladder finals with a 210 game that narrowly edged Tyler Hogstrom (204) and Holden Childs (200).  Zoe Mahn, getting the big performance she needed to sew up her place in the TPC, then fired a 220 game to defeat Kriss (163) and Tristan Sievers (175).  Newcomer CJ Harker, who impressed everyone all day by leading five rounds, then got a great break in the tenth frame to finish a 217 game that beat Mahn (210) and points leader Kelsey Abrahamsen (183) to reach the title match in his first JBT event.

Top seed Andy Herrmann returned from hip surgery in terrific fashion, rolling two huge games in the semifinals to grab the lead, then rolling a confident game in the title match to oust Harker 262-212.  The win was the third of Herrmann's JBT career.

Correen Lieber, on a major-league tear this spring, defeated Chloe Bartlett 219-192 to capture the day's Women's Series event, extending her All-Conference points lead, while the runner-up finish was enough to get Bartlett into the Girls Invitational.

Thanks as always to the terrific crew at Triangle for hosting our events.  The field is now set for the PAc NW Invitational, with big bucks and all the season-long awards up for grabs in the northwest's premier youth event!
