CERBAT LANES

champs Dallas Leong & Amanda Atkin

Dallas Leong and Amanda Atkin added JBT titles to their collections in exciting dual AZ / Mojave Conference action at Kingman's Cerbat Lanes.

Teagan Smale made a successful return to JBT action with a 202-181 win over Russ Oviatt to open the scratch division stepladder finals.  Russ had earlier fired the high game of the day with 297.  Cortez Schenck had the second high game of the day with 290, but Smale took him down as well, winning round two over Cortez 213-172.  An exciting semifinal ended with Dallas Leong throwing a clutch tenth frame double for a 224-216 win against Smale to advance to the title match.

Top seed Eric Hatchett regianed the lead he lost halfway through the semis with a big last game, and the ensuing battle between two of the most decorated Las Vegas JBT bowlers did not disappoint.  After Hatchett strung six in a row late to finish at 236, Leong again came up with a clutch double on the tougher right hand lane to beat Eric 238-236 and earn the 8th title of his JBT career.

Atkin climbed the handicap stepladder with authority for her first JBT singles title.  She began with a 205-185 win over Rachael Berg, which was also the day's Women's Series title match, as they happened to be the top two female scratch qualifiers on the day.  Amanda then finished strong to oust Phillip Sauve 234-198, and followed with a clean game to stop David Galvan 217-173 and advance to the title match.

Top seed Jarred Starr-Moncayo had been dominant since the very first game, but could not find the same look in the title game.  Atkin just kept on putting up untouchable numbers, eventually beating Jarred 213-171 for the win, a long-awaited first singles win to go with her Team title earlier this season.

Thanks as always to the team at Cerbat for a great job hosting out Tour.  Want in on the fun for all ages and averages?  Just check out our schedule and come on down!
