BIG ROCK BOWLING CENTER

champs Cortez Schenck & Alyssa Williams

Cortez Schenck and Alyssa Williams captured JBT victories in exciting NM-TX Conference action at Espanola's Big Rock Bowling Center.

Ahkeen Williams snuck into the #5 spot for the stepladder finals, then won round one 215-203 over Zach Wojciechowski.  Williams then snuck past Carson Opela 207-203.  A cramp derailed Williams in the semifinals, but it may not have mattered anyway as William Yoder blasted 247 to Ahkeen's 191 to advance to the title match.

Cortez Schenck  blasted to the top seed with a stretch of 6 out of 7 games of 248 or higher mid-tournament.   This was a rematch of the previous NM-TX title match at Holiday, and while the scores were surprisingly lower, the end result was the same, as a late string from Schenck sealed a 225-192 win over Yoder for the title.  It's the 58th win of his career, now just five behind all-time titles leader Kyle King.

Daniel Hall began a run up the handicap division stepladder with a 212-203 win over Toby Cdebaca who, like Hall, was making his second straight finals.  Hall then defeated Kelly McNeil 216-196, and followed with a 209-297 victory over Nathaniel Duran to advance to the title game.

Top seed Alyssa Williams' only previous JBT win came way back when she was 12 years old in Tucson.  The now 17 year-old Williams took advantage of this opportunity, defeating Hall 211-194 for the second title of her JBT career.

Krysta Carlisle claimed her first Women's Series win of the season with a 223-177 victory over Bree Vargas.
