Eric Hatchett regained his winning form, while "Salty" was sweet in doubling his title total, in exciting JBT So Cal Conference action at Cal Bowl in Lakewood.
Derek Acuff began an excellent run up the scratch division stepladder with a 245-159 win over Cortez Schenck. Putting distractions out of the way, he then beat Joe Grondin 254-214, and followed with a 227-216 squeaker over Brandon Wanders, to advance to the title match.
Derek lost his look a bit in the finals, and top seed Eric Hatchett took full advantage, rolling to a 210-178 win. It's Hatchett's 15th career JBT title, but first since Yuma in January.
Brandon Lim made his first handicap division stepladder appearance a success, defeating fellow rookie Jeff Rodda 262-193. Andrew Chan then stepped in and beat Lim 243-197. Chan followed with a 219-214 thriller over Zian Sasaki to move on to the title match.
Top seed Marc Villalobos took over in the semifinal round, but had his hands full with the always tough Chan. In the end his tenth frame spare wrapped up a 224-216 win, and his second career JBT title.
Amanda Atkin and Renee Gentry played for the Women's Series title for the second straight day, and this time the results flip flopped, as Amanda won the match, already her fourth girls' win of the season.
