NM-TX DOUBLES CLASSIC

A jam-packed day of action at Tenpins & More in Rio Rancho saw two teams emerge victorious in the annual JBT NM-TX Doubles Classic.
The adult/junior team of Zach Wojciechowski and Ken Harlan opened the scratch division stepladder finals with a big 252-214 win over 12-time JBT champ Billy Grant and Josh Herschman. Zach and Ken then defeated Bree Vargas and Aaron Bacoccinni 235-200. Joey Balistreri and Dan Romero then halted Wojciechowski and Harlan 246-211 to advance to the title match.
William Yoder and Sam Pinge had regained the lead that Joey and Dan had taken from them in matchplay, and regained the form that got them to the top in the title match. They won the game 225-201 for the 7th title of Yoder's JBT career.
Brandyn MacPhee and Robert Barteau began the handicap division stepladder finals with a 215-194 win over Nathan Nguyen and Mariano Garcia. The top 3 teams were all junior/junior combos, and Stephen Dunn and Blayne Hurst ended the last adult/junior team's run with a 247-195 win over MacPhee and Barteau. Last year's Bowler of the Year, Noah Martinez, and last year's Invite champ, Thomas Whitley, then clobbered Dunn and Hurst 228-147, to reach the title game.
It was nothing but winners in the title match, as Montana Cdebaca won last year and Morgan Ellis is a past Invite champ, and nothing but familiar faces as well, as all four bowl on the same league. Montana and Morgan couldn't find the same magic they had in earlier rounds, and Noah and Thomas cruised to the victory. It's Whitley's second career JBT title, and Noah's third.
Janeyl Carper and Dana Miller-Mackie teamed up for the 16th consecutive, and final, time, at this event as Janeyl will be aging out of our program. Their unprecedented run included the 2003 title and numerous finals appearances. Congrats ladies!
