SUNSET LANES

champs Chris Tuholski & Brittany Bland

Chris Tuholski broke through for his first title, while Brittany Bland doubled her total, in exciting JBT Pacific Northwest Conference action at Beaverton's Sunset Lanes.

Bowlers competed in 'pick your poison', where higher seeds get to choose who they want to bowl in matchplay.  Justin Song led a JBT qualifying round for the first time, but his choice of Tuholski proved highly poisonous, as Chris knocked him out.  Tuholski then went on to down Tommie McNeal 211-180 to reach the title match.  Oregon's own Nick Devlin, now a student at Arizona State University, made his quick trip home worth it by beating Dallas Leong 237-217 to advance to the title match (which also left Leong short of the title match for the first time in his last eight JBT events!)

Tuholski had been knocking on the door of a JBT win for a while, and this time he broke through with a 221-190 win over Devlin, good for his first career JBT title.

Tyler Denune scorched the lanes en route to the top seed in the handicap division.  He then downed Lohrghan Ziegler in round one of matchplay, but met his poison in Bland, who beat him in round two.  Brittany rode that momentum to a 226-213 over defending Bowler of the Year Brendan Hopkins to advance to her second title match of the young season.  On the other side of the bracket, Bailey Peters rolled to a 205-150 win over Reagan Lorey to move on and face Bland for the title.

Nothing about the start to Brittany's season has been remotely bland, and she kept up teh hot start with a 210-186 win over Peters to earn her second JBT title of the season already!

Lorey's day wasn't over yet though, as she grabbed the top seed for the day's Women's Series event.  However, #2 seed Kelsey Abrahamsen came up with the 239-215 win in a very well bowled match to earn the day's girls' title.

Derek Haight gave the crowd a thrill when he drew the Ace of Spades for PowerBowl, meaning he was playing for a $5,000 payday!  He got past the first level, the first to do so with the Ace, but fell in round two- great try, Derek!

Thanks as always to Aaron and the team at Sunset for a first-class job hosting our Tour.  Want in on all this fun for all ages?  Just check out our schedule and come on down!
