BOWLERO LANES

champs AJ Schock and Brendan Hopkins with Girls & U17 winners Kelsey Abrahamsen & Makana Wong

AJ Schock ad Brendan Hopkins teamed up to win JBT titles in exciting 'mix it up' format action at Bowlero Lanes in Lakewood.

After qualifying, scratch bowlers were paired with handicap bowlers for the rest of the event, creating unusual duos and putting an emphasis on teamwork.  Aidghan Ziegler and Evan Smith began the stepladder finals with a 228-192 win over Spin Alley champs Andy Herrmann and Jacob Frazier.  In a thrilling second match, Aidghan and Evan squeezed by Makana Wong and Ethen Maxwell 192-191.  Brandon Jensen and Reagan Lorey stopped Ziegler and Smith's run with a 202-180 semifinal win to advance to the championship game.

AJ Schock was brilliant in qualifying to grab the top spot, while Brendan Hopkins enjoyed his best result of the season to grab the top handicap spot.  They lost the top spot in matchplay but regained it for the stepladder, and finished it off with a 205-180 win over Jensen and Lorey for the title.  It's AJ's first JBT title, while Hopkins earned his fourth.

Schock's only loss on the day came in the Girls Scratch finale, where she and Kelsey continued their friendly rivalry, with Abarahamsen coming up with the 184-162 win this time.  Wong won his second U17 event with a 222-196 win over Ziegler.  Herrmann won the day's Ebonite bowling ball, while the Mullen family took home some delicious Camano Island coffee courtesy of Mr. Herrmann!
