VICTOR BOWL

champs Harley Sweigart & Dillon O'Neil with U17 and Girls winners Solomon Salama & Brittany Kolatzny

Harley Sweigart swiped a sweep from Solomon, while Dillon O'Neil finally found a win, in terrific JBT Dual Conference action at a jam packed Victor Bowl.

Kyle Gilbert broke through for his first finals in a while, and kept it rolling with a 207-200 win over Ryan Lee in round one of the scratch division stepladder finals.  Gilbert then ran the first nine strikes in a 265-161 win over Kyle Andrews.  Sweigart then stopped Gilbert 215-188 to move on to the championship game.

Top seed Solomon Salama continued an incredible weekend by shooting his first ever 300 game, and 800 series in the semifinal round to blast into the lead.  He was just as good in the finals, firing a big 257, but made a crucial mistake in whiffing a spare on the fill ball to arrive at that score.  Meanwhile, Sweigart struck on his fill ball for 238, triggering the day's 'endless tenth' format, where he could then thrown two more strikes to pass Solomon by one pin.  Harley's first ball was perfect, and the second ball went high but tripped the corner pins, giving him a 258-257 steal of the title, only the second title match result that has been flipped by the endless tenth.  It was Sweigart's 18th career JBT title, while Salama, thanks in part to 300 bonus prizes from incredible sponsors MSC and Priority Girl Magazine, still earned just shy of $1,000 in scholarships on the weekend!

Chris Hill's 206 survived a close first match of the handicap finals, as he edged Elias Luna (201) and Tanner Ferguson (191).  Austin Sugarman then rolled a big 237 to eliminate Hill (224) and newcomer Amanda Hanson (163).  Dillon O'Neil then won the semifinal match with a 204 game that squeezed by Sugarman (200) and Marco Lerma (189).

Scores were very high at the top of the standings all day, but top seed Jeff Rodda outscored them all to gain the number one spot.  He struggled a bit in the finale though, and as a result O'Neil came away with the win and a long awaited first career JBT title.

Salama was able to win the day's U17 event with a 193-169 win over Rodda.  Brittany Kolatzny swept the Girls Scratch side event on the weekend with a win over Kaylee Am-Khong in that finale.

In addition to Solomon's 300 bonus, MSC and Priority Girl again made a large contribution to the day's prize fund, a huge boost to JBT bowlers and their families which they all appreciate so much!  Want your shot at all this?  Just check out our schedule and come on down!
