BOWL EL PASO

champs Harley Sweigart & Josie Herson with Girls winner Alyssa Williams & U17 winner Mariano Paez

Harley Sweigart and Josie Herson were the super-est of survivors, winning JBT titles at Bowl El Paso in exciting Texas-New Mexico Conference action.

Eight survivors in the scratch division were carved down to four, and in that round, Mariano Paez and Rashaad Jordan couldn't make up a large total pinfall difference, bowling out in fourth and third.  That left Harley Sweigart and Zach Wojciechowski, who had dominated the day.  Things started well for Wojo, but an ugly sixth and seventh frame proved pivotal, as the veteran Sweigart won the final for the 27th title of his JBT career.

Eighteen handicap survivors were whittled down to three, and in that penultimate game, veteran Josie Herson and newcomer Joseph Rieger advanced, while another newcomer, Jeremy Bittner finished up in a fine third place.

Herson is a determined bowler when she can smurf out victory, and her late frame spares locked up a tough win over the impressive rookie Rieger, good for the second title of her JBT career.

Alyssa Williams earned the day's Priority Girls win with a victory over Lauren Jaramillo, while another impressive newcomer, Mariano Paez, captured the U17 title uncontested.

Big thanks to the team at Bowl El Paso for hosting us, Karl Kielich and John Murphy for helping to spread the word.  Jala-Pin-Os Grill inside Bowl El Paso also donated $25 bonuses to the high games of the qualifying round, which went to Wojo and Kloey Kielich.  Want in on all this action?  Just check out our schedule and come on down!
