PARADISE LANES

champs Jacob Mullen & Ryan Smerud with John Malone, Reagan Lorey, Makana Wong, and Colt Jance

Top seeds won in impressive fashion in exciting JBT Pacific Northwest Conference action at Paradise Lanes in Tacoma.

Brian DeLuisa Anderson, who earlier fired a 290 for the event's high game, won a rolloff against Aidghan Ziegler just to get into the finals, then began the stepladder with a 204-186 win over Tyler Coates.  Makana Wong then defeated Brian 218-159 to advance to the title game.

Jacob Mullen led the field on another pattern that proved to play a little challenging, but figured to have his hands full with Wong, a constant fixture at Paradise who was looking to break a string of title match losses.  Makana rolled a solid game, but for the second straight day Mullen caught fire in the finale, throwing a blistering 267 against Makana's 220 for the title.  That's 525 for two title match games on the weekend, and the sweep vaults him up to being a 7-time JBT champ.

Newcomer Hannah Johnson began the handicap stepladder with a 200-153 win over AJ Hooper.  Red-hot Colt Jance then beat Johnson 246-177 to advance to the title match.

Ryan Smerud has spent much of the season struggling since his debut at Main Event, but he's been working hard and he put it all together here, bowling brilliantly to lead from game two on.  He was just as good in the championship game, stringing strikes in a 246-177 win over Jance, good for the first title of his JBT career.

Top qualifiers were just as dominant in the subdvisions, as Reagan Lorey won Priority Girls scratch with a 186-151 win over Ruth Magana, and John Malone won his first U17 event with a 203-174 win over Tyler Coates.

Big thanks to the team at Paradise for a great job hosting our Tour in our first visit to this excellent center.  Want in on all the fun for all ages and averages?  Just check out our schedule and come on down, that 's all you have to do!
