STARLITE LANES

champs Keith Fung & Kendall Bollea; U17 and Girls winners Solomon Salama & Stefanny Toala

Keith Fung and Kendall Bollea opened up the 22nd season of JBT Arizona Conference events with exciting wins at Starlite Lanes in Flagstaff.

Andrew Hall, and ASU bowler with east-coast JBT experience, began the scratch division stepladder finals with a 237-219 win over New Mexico's Angel Ortega.  Keith Fung then stopped Hall 257-227 to advance to the title match.

Solomon Salama, fresh off his amazing summer that included his second straight Junior Gold title, displayed the same talent that got him there, in leading this event.  However, Fung is a veteran determined to have a great senior season, and started that mission off the right way, finding a great look and cruising to a 235-201 win, good for the 7th title of his JBT career.

Kyle Perry began a climb up the handicap division stepladder with a 236-177 win over Flagstaff's own Amelia Mosley.  Perry then got by red-hot Darren Fletcher 216-188 to advance to the title game.

The title game could be called the 'something's gotta give' finale, as both Perry and top seed Kendall Bollea each have numerous second place finishes in their JBT careers.  Both were determined to erase that stat from their records, but when Kyle couldn't strike in his tenth frame, Bollea locked up a 223-210 win, earning the first JBT title of a still very young career.

Stefanny Toala picked up right where she left off last season in the Priority Girls Scratch subdivision, as the defending Bowler of the Year in that category beat newcomer Janel Westerfield for the day's title.  Salama avenged his loss against Fung with a win in teh U17 subdivision final over TPC champ Deo Benard, moving Salama to an amazing 11-0 in U17 title matches!

Big thanks to Dale Schnell, a JBT supporter since the very beginning, and the team at Cactus Starlite for hosting us!  Want in on the fun?  Just check out our schedule and come on down!
