TOWER LANES

champs Jacob Mullen and Carter Humphries with Evan Smith, Jacob Frazier, Hunter Bower, Alejandro Moser-Hernandez, and Andrew Martin

A veteran and a rookie claimed JBT titles in exciting Pacific Northwest Conference action at Tacoma's Tower Lanes.

Bowlers competed in matchplay on a challenging pattern after two qualifying blocks.  Hunter Bower gained the top seed, but after a win over Liam McNamara, fell to Jacob Mullen.  On the other side of the bracket, #2 Tyler Boe beat Tyler Denune and then Kyle Jonson in a one pin second game win to advance and play Mullen for the title.

The championship pair was playing very tricky, and although Boe figured it out and rolled an excellent game,  Jacob saved his best for last, stringing the strikes in a 256-221 win, good for the sixth title of his JBT career.

Colt Jance continued a hot streak by earning the top seed, but last month's champ Paul Rosales eliminated him in round two.  Andrew Martin then beat Rosales to advance to the title game.  On the bracket's bottom half, Alejandro Moser-Hernandez, also on a hot streak, kept it up with wins over Madelyn Hooper and her brother AJ Hooper, but 9 year-old Carter Humphries defended his seed with a win over Alejandro to move on to the final.

With the help of his friends providing both moral support and thumb surgery, Humphries showed no fear in the title match, while Martin struggled to find the mark on the tricky pair.  In the end, Carter won the game 228-184, for the first title of his JBT career in his rookie event.

Evan Smith claimed the day's Priority Girls scratch subdivision win with a 216-177 win over Reagan Lorey.  Jacob Frazier won the U17 event in one of the most entertaining matches of the day, trading good breaks that ended in a 170-169 win over Hunter Bower.

Huge thanks to the team at Tower for a great job hosting our Tour in our first visit in a few years.  Want in on all this fun for all ages and averages?  Just come on down to the next JBT event!
