Andy Byer did it again, while Kalani Kaula redeemed himself from the previous day's performance, in the exciting wrapup to the NM-TX Conference regular season at Lucky 66 Bowl.

What Byer did again was climb the ladder, something he has done with amazing regularity in his JBT career.  He began with a 205-198 win over Geoffrey Young when Young chopped a spare in the tenth.  Byer then followed with a 213-178 win over Jeremy Medina, and reached the title match with a 223-202 win over Bill Grant.

Top seed BJ Baker faced an avalanche of statistics in playing Byer in the title match.  BJ is 0-4 against Byer in the stepladder, and is also riding a personal streak of four second-place finishes.  The numbers held true in this match as well, unfortunately for Baker.  Byer, gaining confidence with each shot, cruised to a 252-204 win, good for the 12th title of his JBT career.

The handicap finals opened with a match that had a legitimate shot at a 3-way tie going into the tenth frame.  However, Janeyl Carper's 211 was good enough to beat Erin Kelley's 210 and Jamie Tillman's 204.  Santiago Withers then fired a 200 to beat Janeyl's 188 and Susan Kurzeka's 180.  In the semifinal, Withers became the next one-pin victim, as his 200 game fell to Elizabeth Romero's 201, who also beat Blake Brown's 163 to advance to the final match.

Top seeded Kalani Kaula had a sub-par day at Saturday's JBT event, but rebounded in a big way to nab the top seed at this event.  He bowled a confident title match against top seed Romero, winning 221-197 to capture his first career JBT  victory.

The field is now set for the 2006 JBT SW NM-TX Invitational Tournament, the season's final event, featuring a guaranteed minimum $1,000 first place scholarship in each division.  Top season-long point scorers also qualify for the 2006 JBT SW Touring Players' Championship, featuring a guaranteed minimum $2,000 first place scholarship per division!
