BOWL EL PASO

Jeremy Medina finally broke a long title drought, while Ryan Scheer added another win to his collection, in exciting JBT NM-TX Conference action at Bowl El Paso.

The scratch division finals opened with Tom Anderson defeating Stephen Gaucin, the previous day's champion, 256-212.  Anderson then rolled on with a 242-219 win over Andy Byer.  In a terrific semifinal match, Nathan Shock reached his first title match with a 246-232 win over Anderson.

Top qualifier Medina's last win was 1/4/03, despite a flood of top-5 finishes inbetween.  This time, however, he was not to be denied, defeating Shock 217-184 for his second career JBT title.

Ahkeen Williams opened up the handicap finals with a big 248 to defeat Janeyl Carper (202) and Jonathan Frederick (190).  In round two, Williams came up with a triple in the tenth frame for a 239 to squeak by Nevadan Justin King (222) and Christa Harvey (214).   Scheer then took over in the semis, rollinga 246 to beat Williams (203) and Ray Gonzalez (196), to reach the title match.

Top qualifier Brittany Prater was leading a JBT event for the first time, and Scheer used his greater experience to his advantage, cruising to a 212-177 win and his second JBT title.

Everyone who finished in the top 5 qualifies for the 2007 JBT NM-TX Invitational Tournament, the regular season's year end event, featuring a guaranteed minimum $1,000 first place scholarship in each division.  Top season-long point scorers also qualify for the 2007 JBT Touring Players' Championship, featuring a guaranteed minimum $2,000 first place scholarship per division!
